The Gym

Filed under: Weight Loss — mikey @ 4:11 am

On Sunday night, i didn’t sleep because I had errands to run, and i didn’t feel like doing them in the afternoon. So, i kept myself awake throughout the early morning hours, and when morning rolled around, I decided to make extra use of the trip up town, and go to the gym.

So, i dialed the gym, and asked them if they had a free trial going on, because I had heard they offer free 1 week trials. The women on the phone told me about how they didn’t have any free 1 week trials during the holidays, but they do offer free 1 day trials. I told her I would stop by later in the day to put that free day to use.

So, i stalled around the house until noon, and at noon I got on the bike and went up town to buy mom’s birthday gift; A card for her cell phone. While there, I bought lunch because I hadn’t ate all day. After lunch, I rode bike all the way across town, locked my bike up outside, and went into the gym.

The gym was a real big fancy place. I was given my one day free subscription, and got to use all their fancy equipment. Among the fancy equipment I used was a recumbent bicycle, a stair master, some leg weight lifting machine, a treadmill, a arm weight lifting machine, and some regular old dumbbells.

Most time was spent on the bike, because that’s what I’m used to. I did two sessions on the bike, totaling about 15 miles, with an average speed of 115 rotations per minute. I can lift about 150 pounds with my legs, and I can lift about 90 pounds with my arms. I can also run for about 10 minutes, but i don’t remember the speed i had it set to, probably something embarrassing.

About an hour in, the receptionist women asked me if i was interested in a membership yet. I told her that I didn’t know. She pushed that $35 per month when signing up for 1 year was a pretty good deal. I told her that I knew people who have $15/month memberships, at places like golds gym. She told me that there wasn’t a golds gym around. I told her that I would see if i could get the money together.

After 3.5 hours of working out, i was pretty much covered in sweat, and ready to pass out. So, i left.

There is my report about the gym. I think i’ll go back up there next week, and see if I can get another free workout. If i can’t, I’ll have to pay $15, which won’t be very much fun. However, $5 per hour is kind of reasonable, but not really, so.. alright.

to a better place out in outer space

Evening Gents,
on sunday night i didn’t really want to sleep so i didn’t

then monday i lounged around, and did laundry

around 4 i got an idea to go out biking, i was thinking “push the limit” for some reason.

so i put on some very thick gloves since it was very cold outside, and i also put on a winter coat, and some pants, and my winter hat under my helmet, and I went out biking for a while. When i started biking, i noticed two things: one, my brakes were tighter, much more sensitive to the touch. Two, i couldn’t really feel anything with these gloves on.

I biked for a very long time, about 13 miles, and on this dirt road, it was unusually bumpy, so i turned off the compression in my shock to help keep everything stable during the ride, and that worked out for a while.

Then i was on a regular sidewalk in town, when I got a ridiculous idea to turn compression in my shock back on. So, i sort of leaned over so i could slide the little gauge off, but i had forgotten that the compression off, so i immediately dipped when i leaned onto the handlebars, and then because i wasn’t completely aware, i accidentally applied full pressure to the front brake.

That sent me straight over the handlebars, and my bike over me. I naturally went straight to the ground, and didn’t feel any immediate pain. When i moved over, my elbow hurt a little, and so did my wrist. Apparently i rolled into the crash, and managed to not damage my face. I did hurt my abs, and my elbow, though it’s nothing serious.

When I got up, i was covered in flowers, and my bike was upside down, rear tire in this bucket of flowers, completely backwards. I didn’t feel bad, i looked over at the people in traffic, stopped at a stoplight, and one women smiled at me. I smiled back, and things were pretty cool.

I picked the bike up, and the little thing that my computer mounts on had snapped in half. I managed to fix that when i got back home. That’s about it.

No noticeable damage was done to the bike. I didn’t ride today because my abs still hurt, and it got dark too quickly. That’s about it.

Have a nice day, people.

week of the dragon

Evening folks,

I’ve been busy this week. Here is what i did this week

Monday
passed out candy for halloween

Tuesday
Didn’t sleep monday night, stayed up all day waiting for fedex to come. Fedex came at 5pm, long after ups, DHL, and even the USPS. They gave me my camera, i messed around with it, and then at 7 dad got home with my bike. Trek turned out to be awesome awesome, and they upgraded me to an 2007 8000 frame, up from my 2005 6700 frame. Here’s a picture of the new bike: http://a.photos.cx/bikenew-b3c.jpg . Also, my new camera came. It’s a nikon n80. I bought it from Ankit who owns cernax hosting, and he threw in a whole bunch of extra stuff, including a 75 - 210mm sigma lens, a bag, 5 rolls of kodak film, and all kinds of other, super-awesome stuff. Here’s a photo of the camera: http://a.photos.cx/nikon002-424.jpg. I woke up with a zit, and it was swollen. I tried popping it, but nothing came of it.

Wednesday
went out on bike. Did 14 miles. Zit is the same size

Thursday
Zit has swollen up a little

Friday
Some terrible misinformed person tells me that putting a heating pad on the swollen zit will loosen things up. I stupidly follow their advice

Saturday
Face is balooned up greatly. It’s hard to see out of my left eye. Person changes their mind, and remembers that heat makes things swell up more, and it’s ice that makes things swell down. I still ride 6 miles that day. Later that night, I tare open the zit, and squeeze out this ridiculously full peice of puss. After that, I bleed for a while, but I do manage to get a lot of bad stuff out of my face.

And now we’re at Sunday. I finished my first wheel of film. I’ll be taking it to the local professional darkroom for development later this week. I talked with their head technician, and they say they can do all kinds of stuff, like scan extremely high quality, 20+MB tiffs for me, and print large, canvas-quality images. The name of the place is “Oxford one hour photo”. Hopefully they’ll do a good job.

Haven’t had a bike for over a week now. Doing more situps, eating a lot less, trying to sleep more as to keep myself from eating.

Called bike shop today, they say that trek shipped out a raw-model frame. Aparently they just took one of their existing ones, and painted it. I’m not sure if it’s shipped out or not. It’ll be at least 1 week before I get the bike back.

That’s all folks.

I broke the bike

Filed under: Weight Loss — mikey @ 3:07 am

As posted on wht:

I think it broke as a result of really hard peddling up hill. All I remember is the second to last time I rode, I was heading onto a trail, and my bike started making this wheezing, and clanking sound. I stopped a few times, and determined it was a result of the chain. When I got home, I asked the dad about it, and he told me it’s probably the chain.

I left the bike for a week due to the freezing weather until today. Then I got on the bike, and it continued to wheeze, and clank. I watched my crank as I peddled, and it looked like my dérailleur was moving back and forth, hitting the the chain. I had to continue on because I had some errands to run, and then on my way up a narrow singletrack hill, my peddling just got stuck, and I almost crashed. I walked the bike back up the hill, and got back on it. Then, as I was riding I looked down and noticed my secondary water bottle cage was moving back and forth with each peddle rotation. I then paid closer attention and noticed that bar moving back and forth every time I pushed my right peddle down. Then i looked to the left, and saw the crack there.

So, I went back home, broke open my warranty info, and found that the bike is still under warranty. So, tomorrow I’ll be going to the bike shop I bought it from, and they should be replacing the frame.

The bike is a 2005 Trek 6700-Disc. We don’t think they still manufacture the frame, so I might luck out and get a 2006, or 2007 frame. I’m also hoping that my frame will be incompatible with the rest of my components, and they’ll have to replace the entire bike.

Good Evening,

This has been a pretty boring week. I put an application into the local rite-aid last Saturday, didn’t receive a call all week, called Friday to see if they went through the applications yet, they said that they will be going through the applications Monday, and scheduling interviews. So, I’ll probably have an interview with them Monday or Tuesday.

this song is pretty sweet for being turkish. I think the writer is too dead to go after me for giving the mp3 away. Anyway, it’s an excellent song, and all of you should download it.

That’s all for now. Too cold for typing.

Evening folks,

Started regular biking again, this week. Have rode about 50 miles since monday.

Put in an application at the local rite-aid. They’ll probably hire me. It’ll be good to have money.

Current weight is 218. Subtract that from 285, I’ve lost 67 pounds.

3 miles into today’s trip, i stopped by the local rite aid and bought 2 cans of red bull. I drank both of them outside the store, and continued on my ride. Then 3 miles later, I stopped at a wallgreens, and bought a 16 ounce can of monster. I drank that outside the store, and continued on my way, more hyped up than ever. Then as I was going up this hill, my speed dropped from 23mph to 13mph. Then at the top of the hill, my energy picked back up, and i got going back around 21mph, and I did that all the way back home. At home, I wasn’t hungry at all, until I realized it was 9:00pm, and I still hadn’t ate dinner. At this point, I hadn’t eaten anything all day, but i wasn’t hungry at all. I had the pizza though, and things were good.

I performed a study on myself this week to prove that clean and clear continuous control cleanser does develop a dependency on it’s own. On friday, I washed my stomach with it, the only part of my body to never ever have acne. I washed with it both friday night, and saturday night, then discontinued use on my stomach after that. Then, I did actually get two zits on my stomach on wednesday, after not using the wash on my stomach with it sunday, monday, and tuesday. So, a big fuck you goes out to the folks at clean and clear for making a product that requires you use it continually after two single uses.

That’s all I have to say. Goodbye.

since last time

A few weeks ago, I got the wild idea to learn to drive. Why? Well, winter’s coming up, and I don’t think I’ll be able to bike around to pretty picture places when there is 4 feet of snow outside. Also, I don’t think i’ll make it far in life without a car.

So, I dug out my “what every driver must know” book, and studied for my permit for a while. The original plan was to read it for 3 days, then take the test, but a lot of things happend, and I can’t quite remember what happend, but i decided i wouldn’t bike 35 miles to pontiac to get a permit, so I got a parent to drive me there.

Skip ahead to last tuesday. I’d studied for a while, and we went out to clarkston to get the permit. I went through the 50 question test, and managed to only miss 6 of the questions. It turns out, most of the test questions were not covered in the book, but only 10 of them. I did pass though. So, now I can drive.

Today I put the permit to use, and drove for the first time in many years. I’m not so good at it right now, but I’m not completely terrible.

In other news, i’m 219 pounds. That’s about 64 pounds less than when I started.

I’ve been listening to the band “Hickey” a lot lately. They’re not around anymore, but they were damn entertaining.

They’re finishing the bridge at the pollyann trail this week. It took them a long time do that.

The trouble with biking in the fall / early winter is that you have to wear pants. In recent years, I’ve had big problems with my pants getting caught, and torn by my front crank. Ripping pants every time you ride is no fun. But, I have a plan. I got this little velcrow thing that goes around my ankle, that will prevent my pants from getting snagged.

Another problem with pants is pretty much all of the ones i have are too big. It seems losing all this weight has caused my pants to fall down any time i wear them without a belt. But then there’s my belts. I’m on my 4th and final rung on all my belts. So, if I lose any more weight, I’m going to have to either make a new hole in the belts, buy new belts, or buy new pants. That really isn’t so good, because with saving money for a car, and wanting to buy fancy electronics that make me look talented, I have barely any money. So, what am I supposed to do? Does anybody out there want to sponsor me? What about work? I know things about servers, mainly freebsd, and linux systems. I also know about apache, bind, mysql, and a whole bunch of other things. If you want to give me money, just contact me, and things will be worked out.

That’s all I have for this week. Have a good life.

The trouble with life

Filed under: A Glimpse into The Madness, Weight Loss — mikey @ 3:33 am

I haven’t been outside in 2 days because of rain.

I haven’t been feeling happy in a long time. A lot of people give me shit just because they want to take me down a notch. No valid reason, they just want to check my response.

Being a biker, I always incur the rage of drivers. Regarldless if I’m in their way or not, they always think they’re better than me. A few weeks ago i was traveling west through oxford, and some fat dick yelled “faggot” from his pickup truck. No reason to, I guess he just felt he needed to.

Laws say we’re supposed to be riding with traffic, but I know that drivers believe we are an inconvience, so I stay on the sidewalk when I can. However, this driver made me quit caring about drivers, as well as my own safety. So, I’m going to start biking on the road more. If I get hit, I’m completely in the right, and I’ll collect a big settlement if a driver hits me. And if I get in the way of a driver, slowing down his trip, he can just deal with it.

Drivers need to learn one the basic rules of the roads, drive defensively. I’m getting back to learning how to drive, and I’m going to make sure I never forget that. Too many of the rednecks out here drive like they own the road, and I believe it’s time to take them down a notch or two.

Wanna hit me? I’ve got a good memory, and I’ll have your license plate memorized. I always wear a helmet, so unless you turn around and attempt to kill me, I’ll survive. After I heal, I’ll stake out that fucking road, find your car, and follow you back home. How would you like that? Having all of your construction wages going to someone who is probably going to spend all your money on a new bike? How about the inevitable fact that your wife will probably take your kids and leave you after the money runs out?

Remember this, drivers. If you fuck with one biker, he is crazy, and he will ruin your life if you choose to fuck with him. He might even hang out with other bikers, who will assist him in ruining your life. Maybe you should go back and read your “what every driver must know” book. Many of you have forgotten the basics.

i crashed and almost died today

Filed under: Weight Loss — mikey @ 2:56 am

So, i was entering the seros parking lot when my rear tire got clipped by a parking spot pillar.

naturally, i went out of control, and i finally crashed down to the ground.

next thing i know, i’m rolling over, feeling pain. I get back up, check to make sure my bike and glasses are okay, they’re fine. I look at my arm, it’s bloody. I walk my bike back to seros, and get access to their bathroom to wash up my cuts.

I wash up, they ask me if i’m okay. I tell them I’m okay.

I go back out, put my helmet on, start the trip back home.

I get home, still feeling pretty bad, take a look at my helmet and discover that the crash cracked it in 3 places. one on the front, two on the side. A few little pieces of gravel are actually sticking into the helmet.

If that damage was done to my helmet, how bad would it be if i fell without one?

I sent an email to giro. Maybe they’ll replace it. Kinda sucks that it got that screwed up after only one crash.
